Only Christ can complete the healing that people seek through counseling. Perhaps that is why so many pastors, ministers and ministers’ wives are thrust into the counselor’s chair, expected to facilitate this healing process for the individuals and families under their spiritual leadership. But knowledge of foundational counseling principles is essential in order to safely and effectively lead members of the body of Christ to a place of restored hope and healing.

In this 90-minute interactive workshop, church-appointed counselors will learn to integrate Scriptural wisdom and Spiritual discernment with foundational counseling methodologies, including:

• Practical strategies for supportive listening

• Understanding limitations to confidentiality

• How to assess for abuse (and what to do about it)

• Creating physically safe environments for children and youth

 

This session will provide participants with:
1. A working knowledge of counseling techniques to aid in the delivery of spiritual guidance.

2. Confidence in their ability to navigate counseling interactions and in the efficacy of their counsel

3. Ability to recognize and respond to behavioral and environmental red flags.
